Toyota Fun-Vii Concept a Smartphone on Four Wheels

November 29th, 2011 by By auto # Toyota

Toyota‘s concept vehicle Fun-Vii shows a display at Tokyo Motor Show 2011 is just around the corner and the event which is scheduled to run from November 30 through December 11 comes with the theme “Mobility can change the world” this time around.  The Toyota Fun-Vii concept vehicle is made to function more like an over-sized smartphone complete with a touch-screen door panel that serves as a user interface.

Toyota Motor Corp. will also be showing an electric vehicle, set for launch next year, and a tiny version of the hit Prius gas-electric hybrid at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens to the public this weekend.  Toyota‘s electric vehicle FT-EV III, still a concept or test model, doesn’t have a price yet, but is designed for short trips such as grocery shopping and work commutes, running 105 kilometers (65 miles) on one full charge.

The innovative exterior of the Fun-Vii comes with an unprecedented amount of functionality that would allow users to literally customize the exterior of their cars without having to go the paint-and-vinyl route. The exterior of the car essentially serves as a display that allows user to put up custom messages, flashy graphics and even themes and wallpaper-like images that can be changed with same effortlessness as downloading an app. On the inside, the Fun-Vii will allow users to opt for a range of themes tailor made for moods with an augmented reality function replacing traditional SatNav!
